Required text: Apologia Exploring Creation with Physical Science 2nd Edition

This laboratory class offers students the opportunity to perform the experiments and discuss the material contained in Apologia Exploring Creation with Physical Science, second edition. This book is available in both textbook and CD-ROM formats. There is also a supplemental multi-media CD-ROM available as well as an MP3 Audio CD version of the text available.

We plan to cover labs from all of the modules in the text. Students will have the opportunity to learn to properly collect data during a laboratory experiment and write up scientific experiments.  Students will also be required to complete two projects.

The textbook is to be read at home by the students. Parents are responsible for the testing and evaluation of textbook materials. Students will receive a lab performance evaluation. Students will be assessed based on participation in class discussions, lab exercises/experiments, projects, and lab reports. Parents are responsible for holding the students accountable for reading, on-your-own questions, study guide questions, and tests based on the textbook.  The lab class is intended to cover the labs and to assist with explanation of topics that students find difficult to understand from the textbook. Students will be given a numerical LAB grade. It is recommended that the parents use that lab grade as 25 – 30% of the overall course grade. This grade is not to be used as their Physical Science course grade, since it will only reflect work done on the labs, not on reading and tests.

Required Supplies to bring to each class for the lab course:
1. 3-ring Binder
2. Sharpened or Mechanical Pencils (with extra lead)
